Woman passenger killed, several injured after KSRTC bus falls into river in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A woman died tragically after a KSRTC bus fell into a river in Pullurampara in Kozhikode on Tuesday. The victim has not been identified while serval others suffered grave injuries in the accident. The bus coming from Muthappanpuzha to Thiruvambady met with an accident.

The accident took place at 2 pm near Kaliyampuzha after the bus hit a culvert, went out of control and fell into the river. The total passenger count remains unknown but it is rumoured that the bus was fully occupied during its travel.

Rescue operations are being carried out under the leadership of the fire force. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. Several people are still trapped inside the bus. According to Thiruvambady panchayat president Bindhu, four people who suffered injuries in the accident are in critical condition.

Accusations are also surfacing about the dilapidated condition of the bridge left unnoticed by the officials despite many pleadings from locals.
