THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The protest march towards the legislative assembly by opposition youth organizations resulted in violent clashes between police and protestors on the road. The youth organizations marched by pointing out issues including the Chief Minister's Malappuram reference and the criminal coterie seeping into police echelons. The protestors also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

During the march, there was a push and shove between the police and activists. The police repeatedly used water cannons to detract protestors, who were pelting stones. As the protest intensified, the police went for lathi charge turning the road into a battleground.

Muslim Youth League state general secretary PK Firos and Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil led the march. PK Firos called Pinarayi a 'saffron demon' while Rahul took jibe saying that the 'lotus' safeguarded by Pinarayi Vijayan would soon fade.
