THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Human Rights Commission has directed that the probe should be expedited in the case where a man allegedly killed a 15-year-old boy by running his car over him for prohibiting him from urinating on the temple ground. Human Rights Commission chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas directed that the investigation be completed expeditiously under the supervision of a senior police officer, preferably of the Rural DYSP rank or above, and the final report be submitted to the court promptly.
The Kattakkada DySP informed the Commission that the accused committed the murder in retaliation for being prohibited from urinating on the temple ground. According to the report, the accused waited for around 30 minutes near Poovachal before intentionally hitting and killing the child with his car at 5:24 pm on August 30, 2023, while the child was standing in front of the temple on his bicycle.
Priyaranjan, the accused, was arrested by the police from Kaliyakkavilai on September 11, last year. The Rural District Police Chief has been directed by the Commission to complete the investigation as soon as possible and submit the charge sheet to the court.
