‘Aadujiveetham’ directed by Blessy swept all major state awards in Kerala and also received its due recognition from the national level. The film was an adaptation of the bestselling novel written by Benyamin, traversing through the horrors faced by Arattupuzha native Najeeb in his real life.
Now, music director AR Rahman has opened up about the real reasons that forced Grammy to reject the popular soundtrack of the film. According to Rahman, there are many criteria for Grammy and Oscar and they need to be met before submitting any work for consideration.
"The Grammys and the Oscars have a lot of criteria. All of them should be followed meticulously without any error. Aadujiveetham’s soundtrack was submitted for Grammy. However, it ended up a futile attempt only because the song was one minute shorter than the Grammy-suggested length. My track was dismissed for that reason alone.
Grammy's tickbox is bigger than we think. The award will be considered only if all the criteria are met. In previous years, we planned to submit the soundtracks of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ for the Oscars and Grammys. Sadly, it didn’t happen.”
