PANOOR (KANNUR): A bundle of lottery tickets that fell into sewer waste. The old man who was selling the lottery tickets crying and trembling cursing his fate. To his relief, the fire force not only recovered those tickets but they and those gathered around bought all the wet and muddy tickets as well. The best example of Malayalee care was seen in Panoor.
Ashokan (70), a native of Mokeri, earns his livelihood by selling lotteries in and around Panoor town. His hands suffer from shivering. His bundle of lottery tickets fell into the drain in front of the Government LP School on the Panoor-Kuthuparamba road this morning. A bundle of fifty Karunya lottery tickets. People gathered hearing Ashokan's cries. The lottery had washed under the slab in the meantime. Some people tried to raise the slab but it didn't work out. Shafeer, an employee of a nearby shop, called the fire force. The fire force rushed in, not ignoring it a simple matter. They retrieved the lottery by raising the slab with a hydraulic tool. Seeing Ashokan's plight as to who will buy these tickets now, the well-wishers purchased the tickets. With folded hands, Ashokan thanked them and walked home.
