THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SFI's Thiruvananthapuram district president Nandan Madhusoodanan and area secretary Sanjay Suresh have been removed from their positions after a video surfaced online showing them with liquor bottles in a hotel room. This decision was made during an SFI district secretariat fraction meeting attended by CPI(M) leaders, including district secretary V Joy and secretariat members DK Murali and C Jayan Babu.
The meeting concluded that the incident would negatively impact SFI's chances in the upcoming Kerala University College Union Elections on October 18. As a result, SFI district vice president Jayakrishnan will take over Nandan's responsibilities as district president.
The controversy surrounding the video has sparked allegations of a conspiracy, with some claiming it was recorded and released with political motives. Notably, the video emerged on the same day Nandan was elected as a member of the CPM Pettah local committee. Nandan and Sanjay plan to file a police complaint regarding the video's circulation.
A commission appointed by the CPM district secretariat will investigate the incident, aiming to uncover the truth behind the video's release and its implications.
