Death of youth after pushed from train in Kozhikode, one in custody

KOZHIKODE: The railway police have taken one into custody in connection with the incident of a youth, who died after falling from a train at Kozhikode railway station, last night. He was taken into custody based on the statement of one of the passengers. Railway police informed that he is being interrogated. Reports say that the dead has not been identified.

The accident happened after the youth ran and got into Mangaluru-Kochuveli special train when it started to depart from Kozhikode station at around 11:30 pm last night. Some of the passengers alleged that the AC mechanic who was in the train pushed the youth. Seeing the accident, one of the passengers pulled the chain and stopped the train. The youth at this time was trapped between the platform and the train and was in a critical condition.

It is also alleged that the railway police and officials were on the spot but they were not ready to take the youth either to the hospital or give him emergency treatment after the accident. Following this, the passengers on the platform and those on the train protested. The youth was taken to the hospital which was only meters away after a long time. Despite taking him to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The people who were there and the passengers said that if he was taken to the hospital on time, his life could have been saved. The railway police have started further investigation into the incident.
