Man drowns as Alappuzha houseboat stay ends on tragic note

ALAPPUZHA: A man tragically died after falling off from a houseboat in Alappuzha’s Punnamada lake. Kottayam Omallur native Rajeev Raghavan (42) died in the incident. The accident happened near the boat jetty at Punnamada starting point.

Rajeev Raghavan, a workshop employee, came to the houseboat with his 12 friends to enjoy the holiday. After during the day's celebration, the boat was moored to the dock. Everyone slept inside the houseboat.

However, panic gripped the next morning when Rajeev went missing from the boat. Fire force came to search and it was at 2 pm that the deep divers, found his dead body stuck under another houseboat which was moored nearby. The body is in the Alappuzha General Hospital Mortuary. Rajeev leaves behind his wife Ranjini and children Niranjana and Nivedya.
