Red alert issued for Kerala coast on Tuesday; waves may rise up to two metres, kallakkadal phenomenon expected

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Red Alert has been issued for the Kerala coast on Tuesday, with extreme caution advised. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has warned of high tidal waves of 1.0 to 2.0 meters and kallakkadal phenomenon (swell surge) from 5:30 AM tomorrow to 11:30 PM on the 16th.

Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari, and the coasts of Lakshadweep, Mahe, and Karnataka have been issued a warning about high tidal waves and kallakkadal phenomenon. Due to the possibility of sea incursion, fishermen and coastal residents are advised to exercise extreme caution.
