KOCHI: Six Muslim League activists, accused in Thuneri Shibin murder case, have been awarded life imprisonment. The verdict is in the case of murdering 19-year-old Shibin, a DYFI worker, at Thuneri in Vadakara.

The accused will have to pay a fine of Rs one lakh each. This amount should be paid as compensation to Shibin's father. The prosecution demanded the court that the act of the accused was a heinous act and that they should be given maximum punishment. Six accused who were abroad had returned the other day. The Nadapuram police registered their arrest and produced all the six before the high court.

The defendant informed that the first accused is continuing abroad as he has not got his passport back and that he is ready to return. The special prosecutor informed the court that there are no legal hurdles in awarding the punishment to the other accused in the absence of the first accused.
