PALAKKAD: Allegations are strong that PV Anvar MLA had hired people to attend the roadshow he organised in Palakkad. It was some news channels that released details about this. In video footage, a few women participating in the roadshow are seen saying that they are people going for film shoots and that it was an agent who called them to join the rally. A large crowd, including women, participated in the roadshow. However, the truth is that many of them didn't even know who Anvar was.
"We're coming from Koduvayoor. We used to go for film shootings. We have gone to Ernakulam. We also went for the shooting of the film 'Guruvayur Ambalanadayil'. We came here after being called by an agent named Naseema. 15 of us have come here. They haven't told us about the money that they are going to give. We don't know how much they will pay us. We came here at 2 pm," a woman who attended the event said.
Another woman who attended the event said that she used to get Rs 500 to 600 per day for participating in a film shooting. Videos of her statement are now circulating on social media.
Meanwhile, PV Anvar MLA has come out against the allegations. Speaking to a media outlet, Anvar said that it was the CPM that sent some people to the rally organised by the Democratic Movement of Kerala (DMK).
"CPM is behind the incident where some people were hired and sent for the rally organised by DMK. I haven't hired anyone to take part in my party's rally," Anvar said.
He also said he endured humiliation by withdrawing his party's candidate from Palakkad only to prevent the BJP from winning the constituency. On Wednesday, DMK had withdrawn the candidature of Minhaj, a philanthropist, in the Palakkad by-election. Anvar also announced that he will support UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil in Palakkad.
