KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who clarified the other day that the Muslim community was not responsible for the crimes in Malappuram, accused the Muslim League of spreading falsehoods against the Communist government in the name of Malappuram district. He alleged that the League was aligning with communal parties to further its anti-Communist agenda.

"Neither the government nor any party has said that Malappuram district is leading in crimes. In 2023, 42,676 cases were registered in Malappuram, while Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam had over 1 lakh. Yet, why is the League spreading such falsehoods among the people of Malappuram against the government? The district, caste, and religion of individuals involved in criminal cases are never considered when taking legal action. Enforcing the law would be impossible if such factors were taken into account. Despite knowing this, the League is spreading baseless stories to align with Congress’s interests," the CM said.

The Chief Minister was speaking after releasing P Jayarajan's book 'Keralam, Muslim Rashtreeyam, Rashtreeya Islam'. CPM leader Paloli Mohammed Kutty received the book. EP Jayarajan presided over the function.

League aligning with communal forces
"The Muslim League cannot say that it has not joined the communal forces. It's impossible to consider the League and Jamaat-e-Islami as the same. Jamaat-e-Islami's goal is an Islamic state, whereas the League is a reformist movement. The League has no alliances outside India, whereas Jamaat has ties with foreign terrorist organizations. Jamaat seeks Islamic global nationalism, unlike the League. The RSS and Jamaat-e-Islami are birds of the same feather. The League is aligning with such communal parties," he said.

Thrissur Pooram was not disrupted
The Chief Minister said that this year's Thrissur Pooram celebrations were not disrupted. "A police officer met an RSS leader. Upon learning about this, some people started claiming that the Thrissur Pooram celebrations were disrupted as per an agreement reached in that meeting. But what's the truth? The festival took place as usual; only the fireworks were slightly delayed. Is that why they claim it was disrupted? The League should not stand with the Sangh Parivar in spreading such falsehoods,” he said.

Did not respond to remark about Mahdani
The Chief Minister did not respond to the remarks about Abdul Nazer Mahdani in P Jayarajan's book. Instead, he emphasised that the author's opinions are his own and don't reflect the party's stance. He also commended P Jayarajan for writing a well-researched book.
