KANNUR: The Thalassery Principal Sessions Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by CPM leader PP Divya, in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. It took just 90 seconds for the court to deny Divya bail after the case was considered on Tuesday.
Considering the new developments, Divya will be forced to surrender before the investigation team immediately. Divya will be produced before the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in case of arrest on Tuesday. She will be later sent to jail as per court order.
Divya can now approach the High Court for respite. Judge KT Nisar Ahmed pronounced the verdict on Tuesday. The offence was charged under Section 108 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Meanwhile, the family of ADM Naveen Babu expressed relief over the verdict.
“The police dragged the case and delayed the arrest till now. They are complicit in this case. The accused is still at large. The collector could have intervened and stopped Divya from further humiliating my husband at the farewell function. But he remained stoic. The accused even brought a local channel to film the event.
Anybody can enquire about his track record. Even though I am a Tahsildar, I used to phone him daily to enquire about doubts related to my work. He was a person willing to help anyone. The NOC was delayed to the petrol pump because the town planning report arrived late. I am not fit to comment more on the topic. But after all, I can say this clearly: I want that accused who destroyed our family to be arrested immediately.” said ADM Naveen Babu’s wife.
