KANNUR: Many expect CPM leader PP Divya to surrender before the police on Tuesday. The big change of events took shape after the Thalassery court denied anticipatory bail to the CPM leader in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. However, there are reports about Divya keen on approaching the High Court for immediate respite.
There are covert reports from insiders claiming Divya will not immediately surrender and will continue her fugitive life until the High Court makes a decision. There is also news about a top CPM leader from Kannur contacting Divya on Monday. The leader has purportedly asked Divya to surrender on Tuesday if for any unfavourable verdict from the court. This is also a measured move from CPM to restore people's faith considering the by-polls in Kerala. But it remains to be seen whether PP Divya will defy the party order and move according to her whim.
Secret information tells that Divya is hiding in Alapadamba near Kankole in Payyannur. This region is considered a communist stronghold with no presence of opposition parties. Lawyer K Viswan has also denied rumours that Divya might surrender.
“As soon as we get the judgment copy, we will approach the High Court. Until then, there is no need for Divya to surrender.” said the defence lawyer.
Reports surfaced that Divya went to the Cooperative Hospital and sought treatment on Monday. The prosecution responded that there are no obstacles for the police to arrest PP Divya now.
