THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The prestigious Chief Minister's Police Medal, set to be awarded to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M R Ajith Kumar for outstanding service, was withheld just hours before the ceremony. The medal, which recognizes excellence, dedication, and commitment in police service, was to be presented by the Chief Minister at a ceremony held at the Peroorkada SAP Parade Ground today at 9 am.

An order issued by AIG Padamsingh, on behalf of the Director General of Police (DGP) Sheikh Darvesh Sahib, directed that the award not be distributed. The decision comes as ADGP Ajith Kumar faces an ongoing investigation regarding various allegations, leading officials to hold off on granting the honour.

ADGP Ajith Kumar applied for the Chief Minister's Police Medal eight months ago, and the recipients were officially announced on August 13. Among the 267 officers selected for this year’s award, Ajith Kumar's name was included before today's decision to withhold his medal.
