THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain will continue in the state on Friday. Orange alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Palakkad. A chance of heavy rain at isolated places has been predicted. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has defined heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm rainfall in 24 hours.
Yellow alert has also been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram today. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
In the next three hours, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places over Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Wayanad with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad and Malappuram and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph.
The rain will continue in the coming days. Yellow alert has been announced tomorrow in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Palakkad and tomorrow in Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
