PALAKKAD: CPM on Wednesday released CCTV footage of a congress worker bringing trolley bag to the hotel in Palakkad. This has now bolstered allegations of illegal money transfers in the wee hours of Tuesday. The footage shows KSU actviits Feni Ninan entering the hotel with a trolley bag followed by Rahul Mamkootathi and Shafi Parambil.

More than eight minutes of footage has been released. The time is between 10.11 pm to 11.30 pm. Shafi Parambil, VK Sreekantan and Jyothi Kumar Chamakkala are seen entering the hotel and talking from the verandah. Rahul is seen walking into the conference hall while Feni sticks to the corridor. But at this point, the blue trolley bag is not seen with the KSU activist. At 10.47 pm, Rahul is led to a room by one of the congress workers. The footage later shows Rahul returning to the conference hall and Feni leaving the hotel.

At 10.54 pm, Feni Ninan returns to the hotel and enters the conference hall with the blue trolley bag. After a few minutes, Rahul is seen walking out of the conference room. Feni soon emerges from the conference hall with the blue bag. Feni places the bag in his car trunk and then meets Rahul inside the hotel room. Soon, another bag comes out of Rahul’s room carried by other congress workers.

LDF independent candidate Dr. P. Sarin responded that the police conducted the inspection based on the information received from within the Congress.

“I know Shafi’s modus operandi. Money started flowing in Palakkad. It is through this same tactic that he won Palakkad last time. All this should be thoroughly investigated.” said Sarin.

Minister MB Rajesh alleged that congress leadership sabotaged the police investigation and raised suspicion about dubious financial dealings in the hotel in Palakkad on Tuesday night.
