Govt pays Rs 31 lakh to Kapil Sibal for appearing in gold smuggling case in SC

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government paid Rs 31 lakh to Kapil Sibal for the trial in the case in connection with gold smuggling through diplomatic channels. The state approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Enforcement Directorate to transfer of the case to Bengaluru. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for the government in the case.


Rs 15.50 lakh was granted to Kapil Sibal on November 5 for appearing before the Supreme Court on May 7, 2024 in the gold smuggling case. Kapil Sibal charges Rs 15.50 lakh for a sitting. Rs 15.50 lakh was allowed to Kapil Sibal for appearing in this case on October 10. Before this, it was Kapil Sibal who appeared in the case filed by Kerala in the Supreme Court against the central government's restriction on the borrowing limit.
