CPM to take action against PP Divya; state committee approves district committee's decision

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM has decided to take disciplinary action against former Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya. The CPM state committee has approved the Kannur district committee's decision to remove Divya from all posts of the party. The state committee stated that the Kannur district committee can take the final decision on the matter. The party is of the opinion that there was a serious lapse on the part of Divya. With the party deciding to take disciplinary action, Divya will be demoted to branch committee member.

Divya is currently housed at the Pallikkunnu Women's Jail. PP Divya surrendered before the police after remaining in hiding for several days. Meanwhile, sources close to Divya said that she will face the matter related to the ADM's death legally and prove her innocence.

Divya had attended the farewell ceremony given to ADM Naveen Babu without an invitation and publicly humiliated him by portraying him as a corrupt official. This caused severe mental distress to Naveen Babu, ultimately driving him to take his own life.

Divya resigned from the post of district panchayat president following the suicide of Naveen Babu. Divya, who performed well as the district panchayat president, was considered by the CPM as its candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
