THRISSUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that it was Meppadi panchayat that provided stale items to the victims of the Mundakkai and Chooralmala landslides. The chief minister was inaugurating a public meeting organised at Varavoor for the election campaign of Chelakkara constituency LDF candidate UR Pradeep.
"This is a serious problem. The old rice was distributed by the local government which was supposed to be part of the government which said that stale items should not be given. This has to be investigated. The present incident is shocking. Vigilance has been entrusted with the task of conducting a detailed examination. It should be checked whether it is to help the poor or to get credit by pretending to be doing something."
"The BJP men are acting proud that Thrissur has secured parliament membership. However, the interplay that took place behind it is known to everyone. Its figures are out. Just look at the votes the Congress got in 2019 and 2024. Muraleedharan's name is acceptable to Congress members. Is Muraleedharan a person who can't get Congress votes? About 87,000 votes went missing. Just look at the BJP candidate's vote to know where those votes went. The LDF candidate increased his votes in Thrissur. BJP won when the Congress votes were added."
Centre ignored Kerala
"The BJP and the UDF were two factions in the last assembly elections, but they worked with one mind. Both sides came together to defame the LDF. People are worried. They are asking why central assistance is being delayed. Central assistance has reached some of the states that have suffered disasters. That's a good thing, and we're not against it. But Kerala is not in that group. Why was Kerala not included in that group?," the CM asked. Ministers Ramachandran Kadannappally, K Rajan, Ahamed Devarkovil MLA and CN Jayadevan also spoke.
