PALAKKAD: KPCC spokesperson Jyoti Kumar Chamakkala expressed concern over the loss of a strong opponent in Sandeep Varier, who recently joined the Congress party. Chamakkala praised Warrier's ability to learn, articulate and present ideas effectively, calling him a valuable adversary. He also noted the challenge for the media, as former rivals now united in the Congress camp.
Varier, speaking about his decision to leave the BJP, said he was disappointed with the lack of support and care he received from the party. He criticized the BJP for becoming a factory that produces hate and expressed his frustration with its increasingly dictatorial nature. Sandeep also highlighted his opposition to the BJP leadership's internal decisions, such as the adjustments made by BJP leader K. Surendran with the Chief Minister and the CPM. He was also critical of the party's handling of the Karuvannur and Kodakara issues and claimed that he was excluded from a list of key party contacts.
Sandeep Varier explained that his disillusionment with the BJP, which he described as fostering extreme hatred, led him to join the Congress. He thanked KPCC president K. Sudhakaran, Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan and the AICC leadership for welcoming him into the party. Warrier expressed his hopes for a fresh start, referring to the Congress as a shop of love, where he believes he can contribute to a more inclusive and democratic political environment.
