PALAKKAD: Sandeep Varier, who quit BJP and joined the congress party, praised on the Muslim League. He told a private television channel that the League is a party that upholds religious brotherhood and that Thangal was the first to reach when the fire broke out in the Thali temple. He said that he is going to Panakkad on the demand of the KPCC. Varier added that in his personal life, he had upheld secular stances, but earlier stances were adopted when he was part of the BJP. Sandeep Varier met Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal in Panakkat at 8:30 Sunday morning. Leaders including P K Kunhalikutty were in Panakkad.

Meantime, KPCC President K Sudhakaran said the arrival of Sandeep Varier will be beneficial for the Congress. ‘Many more people will come to the party. Sandeep's arrival is a reply to those who spread that he would join the BJP. Sandeep is going to Panakkad as requested by the KPCC. There is also a need to respect the league when comes to the front. The party's assessment is that his arrival will be beneficial. Sandeep will no longer do what he did from within the BJP. Sandeep was brought on the basis of that assurance. A person who is an asset to the BJP has joined the Congress today’, said Sudhakaran.

K Muraleedharan also welcomed Sandeep’s arrival. He said that it is a good thing that Sandeep has joined the Congress. 'He could have come two weeks ago and could have gone to campaign for Priyanka Gandhi. It would have been an apology for the mistake committed towards Rahul Gandhi. Membership in the shop of love should always be maintained and should never go to get a membership in the shop of hate again. He said that the reference to Gandhi's assassination was made on behalf of the BJP. He said that there is no need to think about it anymore.

However, Muraleedharan's sister Padmaja Venugopal responded that Sandeep Varier had boarded a sinking ship and had not joined the store of love and had reached the midst of hatred and sinners. Padmaja Venugopal said that he will have to swallow everything that has been said for so long and time will prove that his present decision was wrong.
