KANNUR: The court will consider on Saturday the petition filed by Naveen Babu’s wife Manjusha. The petition filed in the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court states the possibility of CPM functionary PP Divya using her high-level party connections to tamper with the evidence and subvert the case. The petition also requested immediate court intervention.

Naveen's family intervened cautiously in the issue minding the waning media attention for the case, and the high possibility of conspirators toppling the investigation. The court asked the Additional Public Prosecutor to submit a report on the matter. The petition also sheds light on the close connection between collector Arun K Vijayan and PP Divya. The family pointed out this bonhomie as the reason behind the collector changing his stance often in the case. The family also demanded the investigation team check the call logs of the collector.

As of now, Naveen Babu’s family is not happy with the progress of the investigation. The request for immediate court intervention is considered to be a prelude to demanding CBI investigation in the case. Currently, the case is progressing with the conclusion that the ADM committed suicide. No investigation has been made into the dubious deals surrounding Divya and the petrol pump nor into the 'fake' complaint from Prasanthan.

Family’s demand :

  • Phone records of TV Prasanthan, Naveen Babu, Collector, PP Divya.

  • CCTV footage of Collectorate, Muneeswaran Kovil, railway station area, platform and Pallikunnu.
