BUENOS AIRES: Lautaro Martinez has reached the 32 goals tally for Argentina, thus equalling the record of legendary Diego Maradona. The 27-year-old Inter Milan captain achieved this feat by scoring the only goal in the World Cup qualifying match yesterday.
Lionel Messi is the top goal scorer for Argentina with 112 goals. Gabriel Batistuta (54), Sergio Aguero (42) and Hernan Crespo (35) are in the second to fourth positions. Maradona and Lautaro share fifth place. Lautaro scored his 11th international goal of the year against Peru. Messi and Batistuta are the only Argentine players to have scored more than ten international goals in a calendar year before.
Lautaro also tops the list of players with the most international goals in 2024.
