PALAKKAD: Palakkad municipal chairperson Prameela Sasidharan came forward criticizing the BJP state leadership for the poll debacle in Palakkad. Prameela alleged that there was a mistake in the selection of candidates and a regular candidate contesting the poll was a setback. When went for electioneering, many expressed their dissatisfaction for fielding a regular candidate. Prameela clarified that they went for electioneering after surpassing this dissatisfaction.
Prameela said there had been no lapses from the part of the municipality behind the BJP's defeat and that the party workers stood with C Krishna Kumar. She clarified that she had informed Surendran about the opposition raised by the people.
'All the BJP councilors in the Palakkad municipality were in the forefront of the campaign. It cannot be said that the votes in the municipality have dropped. When discussions on the selection of candidates came, had informed the leadership that the same candidate was not needed. However, the party did not accept this demand. If there had been another candidate, the chances of victory would have been higher, and there is no point in blaming the municipality for the present defeat. There was a drop of only 1500 votes. NOTA is included in it. We respect people’s verdict. Let the party investigate on the drop of votes for Krishna Kumar,' Prameela clarified.
Shobha Surendran was involved in the campaigning and blamed for not using her properly. She dismissed the allegations against Shobha Surendran.
