NEW DELHI: Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia has been handed a four-year ban for failing to provide urine samples for a doping test. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) imposed the ban after the wrestler refused to hand over his urine sample for a doping test during the selection trials held in March.
Due to the ban, Punia will not be able to participate in wrestling competitions or become a coach for a period of four years. Punia, who won a bronze medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics, was at the forefront of the protest by wrestlers, which had drawn national attention. He had joined the Congress party ahead of the recent elections.
