KOCHI: The Income Tax Department found tax evasion of Rs 60 crore from film actor Soubin Shahir’s production firm ‘Parava Films’. It is reported that some documents related to financial transactions were found in the raid. The Income Tax Department will likely summon Soubin for further questioning.

The raid was conducted at seven centers and continued till 11 pm on Thursday. From the investigation, the Income Tax Department found the total collection of Manjummal Boys to be Rs 140 crores. So it came to notice that the producers shrewdly shrouded the Rs 40 crore profit made from the film. Irregularity has also been found in the income tax returns.

According to IT officials, the present investigation is just in the preliminary stage and more findings will be made in the coming days. Apart from Parava Films, the investigation team is also looking into the production company Dream Big Films. Both these companies were funded by the same private financial institution.

It is suspected that more illegal transactions have taken place. The raid was conducted as part of the information gathering on the complaint of a large-scale black money transaction behind the veil of ‘Manjummel Boys’ movie’s financial success.
