MYSORE: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan said that it was the Malabar Rebellion that motivated Sree Narayana Guru to organize the Aluva All-Religion Conference. He made this statement while inaugurating a three-day leadership camp held under the guidance of the Yogam leadership in Dr Palpu Nagar (Rio Meridian Hotel), Mysore.
"Guru sent his disciple Kumaran Asan to Malabar to gather information about the situation of the rebellion, and Asan later conveyed to Guru the brutal conditions in Malabar. Asan later mentioned these matters in 'Duravastha'. The reason behind organizing the All-Religion Conference should also be discussed in this context. The atrocities of the majority community in the Malabar rebellion deeply saddened Sree Narayana Guru. In the All-Religion Conference, Guru emphasized that the essence of all religions is unity," Vellappally said.
"Whether from the Left or the Right, the voices of minority religious extremists are akin to those of Hamas. We can see political parties based on religion, with members and candidates from that religion, only in India. Such minority religious political parties enter alliances and win elections by securing the votes of the majority community. The Waqf encroachment in Munambam is dangerous. The Left and Right fronts passed a resolution in support of Waqf in the Legislative Assembly to appease the Muslim community. However, the power structures had to bow before the people's strength. Is there a law or regulation in place here that is favourable to the Ezhava community?" he asked.
