PATHANAMTHITTA: A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus collided with an ambulance at Kalanjooor in Pathanamthitta injuring ten people. Four people, including the driver, who were in the ambulance have been shifted to the medical college. Reports said the KSRTC driver's ribs were reportedly injured.
The accident occurred Sunday morning at the Kalanjoor School Junction on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha state highway. The ambulance that met with the accident was carrying a patient from Pathanamthitta General Hospital. The front portion of both vehicles was almost completely destroyed in the collision. The bus crashed into a fence and a post on the footpath. The locals and passersby engaged in the rescue operations along with the police.
The locals said Kalanjoor School Junction is a constant danger zone. The bend in the road is a danger trap. They pointed that unscientific construction is the cause of the accidents and that steps should be taken to avoid problems, but no move has been made by the authorities so far. Often, accidents occur among people who are unfamiliar with the place.
