KOCHI: Former leader A K Nazeer alleged that BJP leader M T Ramesh took bribe of Rs 9 crore to allot Medical Council of India’s (MCI) nod to private medical colleges. Nazeer was former BJP state secretary and national office bearer of nyunapaksha morcha.

While talking to a media he said that he was ready to hand over evidence if a re-investigation is conducted in the medical bribery case. Nazeer was a member of the investigation commission in the medical bribery controversy. Meantime, M T Ramesh responded that the LDF government's police investigated and dismissed the case and that demanding a re-investigation is malicious.

The allegation against M T Ramesh was that he took bribes of crores in the name of allotting Medical Council of India’s (MCI) nod to Varkala S R and Cherpulassery medical colleges. The allegation came to light through the report of the investigation commission headed by Nazeer when Kummanam Rajasekharan was the BJP state president. Nazeer was suspended from the party after he sharply criticized the state leadership in this incident. He later left the party.

Nazeer was BJP member for 30 years. He left the party and joined the CPM last March. Nazeer had then said that the BJP was not working well with minorities, including Muslims and this was the reason for leaving the party.
