BENGALURU: An IT employee committed suicide in Bengaluru unable to bear his wife's false dowry harassment complaint and mental torture. The deceased has been identified as Atul Subhash (34). Police have recovered a 24-page letter written by Atul from his apartment. Atul was found hanging in his apartment at around 6 am on Monday.

Atul committed suicide after sharing a detailed video on social media, recounting the harassment he faced. Police have booked his wife Nikitha Singhania, mother-in-law Nisha, brother-in-law Anurag, and uncle Sushil for abetment to suicide based on the complaint lodged by Atul's family.

Atul and Nikitha got married in 2019. Nikitha gave birth to a child a year after the marriage. Over time, the wife’s family started frequently taking money from Atul. When he refused to give them more money, Nikitha left his home with the child and went to her parental home. She later filed a dowry harassment case against Atul. Meanwhile, Nikitha's father passed away. Nikitha alleged that her father died of a heart attack due to the stress caused by Atul's demands for dowry. However, he had a history of heart disease.

Wife demanded Rs 3 crore to settle false case
In the video, Atul said that Nikita had demanded Rs 3 crore to settle the dowry harassment case. She did not even allow him to see his child and demanded another Rs 50 lakh to allow him to see the child.

"The judge at the Jaunpur family court didn't listen to what I had to say. The court officials accepted bribes. My wife has filed nine cases against me. Do not immerse my ashes until justice is served. If justice is delivered, immerse my ashes in the Ganga River. Otherwise, discard them on the road. Ensure that my four-year-old son's care is entrusted to my parents," Atul said in the video.
