Marriage after eight years of relationship, death while waiting for another celebration

PATHANAMTHITTA: More details have surfaced in the accident claiming the lives of four in Pathanamthitta Sunday morning. The dead were Nikhil and Anu, a newly wedded couple and their fathers Mathai Eapen and Biju P George, all from Mallassery in the district. Nikhil and Anu got married on November 30 after being in a relationship for eight years.

Nikhil is a mechanical engineer and was in the Gulf till 2020. He later went to Canada. He was presently working as a quality technician there. Anu has completed her MSW. She was planning to go to Canada with her husband next month.

The two families are from the same parish and they stay close by. The two families have a cordial relationship. The families have relatives in Malaysia and so the newly married couple flew to Malaysia for their honeymoon. Anu’s birthday falls tomorrow. The couple's plan was to celebrate Anu’s first birthday after marriage and then Christmas with their families and then fly to Canada.

Biju retired from the army. He is presently working as a security manager at a private hospital. The car was driven by Biju. Anu and Nikhil were in the back seat. Three died on the spot and Anu lost her life in the hospital. The car collided with a bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims. It is reported that the accident is likely to have happened after Biju dozed off.
