THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that Kerala is likely to receive rainfall for the next five days. The low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified and is expected to move towards the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts within the next 24 hours. It may then move parallel to the Andhra Pradesh coast in a northerly direction. Under its influence, Kerala is likely to experience isolated light rainfall over the next five days, IMD said.

IMD said that there are no restrictions on fishing along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts today. The low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified and is likely to move towards the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts within the next 24 hours. It may then move parallel to the Andhra Pradesh coast in a northerly direction.

There is a likelihood of strong winds and rough weather in the following regions: the Tamil Nadu coast, adjoining Kanyakumari area, Gulf of Mannar, southern Andhra Pradesh coast, central parts of the southern Arabian Sea, adjacent equatorial Indian Ocean, northern parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal, and southern parts of the central-west Bay of Bengal. Wind speeds are expected to range between 35 to 45 km/h and may occasionally reach up to 55 km/h.
