NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear the petition related to the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) irregularities in January. The court informed that the hearing on the plea of the Congress leader Karan Singh Dalal, former Haryana minister and five-time MLA, to formulate a policy to check EVMs will be held next month. The court did not accept the request of the Election Commission to reject the petition. The decision rests with the bench chaired by the Chief Justice. The bench chaired by Justice Dutta will consider the petition on January 20.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dutta had earlier dismissed the petition seeking to replace electronic voting machines and use paper ballots in the elections.
