PATHANAMTHITTA: The flag has been hoisted for the CPM Pathanamthitta district conference. CPM state secretary MV Govindan will inaugurate the representative session at 10 AM today. District Secretary KP Udayabhanu is scheduled to present the activity report by 1 PM. The district committee report is being kept confidential following the leak of the report from the Thiruvalla North local committee.
The varying reactions from leaders after ADM Naveen Babu's death have created an impression of a rift between the Pathanamthitta and Kannur district committees. This is likely to be criticised by the delegates. After expressing solidarity with Naveen Babu's family, the party’s decision to protect PP Divya, the accused in the case, has created dissatisfaction among local party workers. Leaders are anticipated to explain their opposition to a CBI investigation into the case. During an area meeting, leaders highlighted that the CBI has faced criticism from the courts for its inefficiency. The suspension and later resumption of some local meetings in the district has been attributed to ongoing factionalism. The recent inclusion of individuals accused in KAAPA cases and sexual harassment cases into the party is also expected to be a topic of discussion.
