ALAPPUZHA: The decision on further treatment of the baby born with severe deformities is being delayed. With this, the local politicians are all set to form an action council. The baby will undergo another examination including MRI scan. The baby, who was undergoing treatment at the Vandanam Medical College Hospital, was discharged from the hospital last Tuesday.

The doctors had directed to monitor the baby carefully as the saliva from the mouth could reach the brain and had asked to bring the baby to the hospital immediately if shows any difficulties. The family has to go to the hospital daily for the baby's treatment. Yet the family reiterates that no action has been taken against those responsible for it.

The baby's father, Aneesh Mohammed, said the authorities asked them to cope with the situation as the baby has to be brought to the hospital frequently. The authorities also told them to be ready to bring the baby to the hospital at any moment and to postpone everything for that. Aneesh alleged that even when they are ready, no action has been taken against those responsible for such a situation and that the labs have not been closed.

The medical college superintendent informed that the government has instructed that the baby's present treatment should be provided free of charge. Meantime, Aneesh said no decision has been taken on further treatment. The medical board had met the other day to assess the baby's health condition. Around eight tests conducted so far, including MRI, has to be done again.

However, none of this is as per the instructions of the expert team appointed by the health department. The family is worried that the expert team has not given any directions on the further treatment.
