KOZHIKODE: Actor Mammootty on Friday visited Sithara, the residence filled with memories of beloved writer MT Vasudevan Nair. Mammootty was abroad at the time of MT's demise and was unable to attend his funeral. He visited the Kozhikode residence nine days after MT's passing. Accompanied by Ramesh Pisharody, Mammootty consoled MT's family. Mammootty was visibly emotional, overwhelmed by memories of the great writer.
"It's been 10 days since MT left us. I came because I did not forget him...I cannot forget him. There's nothing more to say," Mammootty said to the media after his visit.
When MT passed away, Mammootty had shared a deeply emotional note on Facebook. 'Some say that it was MT who discovered Mammootty. I was the one who wanted to see him, prayed for him, and thus found him. That relationship grew from the day I saw him.
It grew like a friend, like a brother. When he stumbled during a programme in Ernakulam four or five months ago and leaned on my chest, I felt that I was that man's son. Getting a place in that heart is the greatest blessing I have received in my film career. I have portrayed many of his soulful characters I don't remember any of that now. An era is fading away. My mind feels empty. I spread my arms wide,' Mammootty wrote on his Facebook page.
MT Vasudevan Nair passed away on December 26 at a private hospital due to respiratory-related ailments. Mammootty's acting career has been adorned with numerous unforgettable characters, many of which were born from the pen of M.T.
