THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader and former Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has made his stance clear on the controversy brewing in the Congress surrounding the party's Chief Minister candidate. He said that he is not ready to respond to the controversy regarding the party's CM candidate and that the current discussion is unnecessary. He expressed this view while participating in the 'Straight Line' program on Kaumudy TV.
"The controversy arose after I participated in Mannam Jayanti. Before attending the event, I had visited Sivagiri. Those who create controversies are doing so intentionally. My stance is to perform any task assigned by the party to the best of my ability. I am with the people and no one can prevent me from working for the people. There is no relevance to discussions about the Chief Minister candidate at this time. The upcoming Panchayat elections should be viewed as an election for ordinary workers, and everyone should work together to ensure the party's victory," Ramesh Chennithala said.
"When I was the President of the KPCC, I had ensured that seats were given to people from all communities. It is their responsibility to win and move forward. Both the Opposition Leader and KPCC President are performing well. The Pinarayi Vijayan government is one of the biggest disasters Kerala has ever seen. The second Pinarayi government is worse than the first. As the opposition leader during the time of the first Pinarayi government, I was able to put pressure on the government to withdraw five to seven government decisions. During the COVID period, the government was seen as a saviour by the people due to the distribution of benefits. This contributed to the LDF's victory in the assembly polls. This phenomenon was seen not only in Kerala but also in Bengal and Tamil Nadu," Chennithala clarified.
