NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Mahatma Gandhi had a unique ability to connect deeply with people and unify the nation through his personality and actions, despite not being a great orator. Modi shared these thoughts during his first podcast with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath.
"Gandhi never wore a cap, yet the world will forever remember the 'Gandhi Cap.' That is the power of true communication and leadership. Entering politics is easy, but achieving success is extremely challenging," Modi said.
"Dedication is essential for success in politics. One must connect with people in both their good and bad times. It is also necessary to have the ability to work as a team. Assuming that everyone will listen to them or emulate their actions is foolish. They may win a few elections, but that doesn’t guarantee that they will become great leaders," he said.
"Professional politicians who are good speakers may enjoy importance for a short while, but they won’t last long. The country needs a hundred thousand young politicians whose primary goal is national service. Politics should not be about taking, gaining, or building for oneself; such an approach will not sustain over time," he said.
"Everyone makes mistakes. I too make mistakes; I am human, not God. I used to wash all my family’s clothes. Hence, I had permission to go to the pond," Modi added.
Modi has shared the trailer of the podcast on social media. 'I hope you all enjoy this as much as we enjoyed creating it for you!' he wrote.
