Case against eight for sexually abusing mentally challenged woman in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: A mentally challenged woman was sexually abused in Areekode. A complaint has been filed against eight people, including the woman's distant relatives and neighbours. The 36-year-old woman was taken to various places and sexually abused. Three FIRs have been registered in the incident.

The accused also stole her ornaments of 15 sovereigns of gold. The FIR said the main accused handed over the woman to several people. A special team led by Kondotty DySP is investigating the case. The accused sexually abused the woman after knowing that she is mentally challenged. The woman's family said the main accused knew that she is not able to resist. The woman's family also stated that they suspect that more people are behind the incident.

Meantime, 20 people have been arrested in the incident of the rape of a Dalit girl, an athlete, in Pathanamthitta. Earlier, 14 people were arrested in the case. Six more people were arrested from Ranni today. Three of them are auto drivers. A youth whose marriage was fixed a week ago and a plus two student are among those arrested today. Seven FIRs have been registered in various stations in the incident. The girl has stated that she was raped by 64 people. Of these, 42 have been identified.
