Young woman's death in Thiruvananthapuram likely murder; Earrings and necklace missing

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The strange case of a woman’s death in the capital city is suspected to be murder. Shanu aka Viji, a native of Kandal Kaniyapuram, was found dead the other day. The body was found lying on the floor of the house.

According to police, Viji was strangled to death with a rope, used as a clothesline. Her necklace, earrings and mobile phone are also missing. The dead body was first seen by her children who came home from school around 5:30 pm. Viji, a widow, had been living with Rangan, a native of Tamil Nadu, for some time. Rangan is a hotel employee and according to locals, he was at home with Viji when the children left for school.

According to police, Rangan had fled to Tamil Nadu. An investigation has been intensified in the case.
