KANNUR: A 67-year-old man, declared dead and taken to the mortuary, has miraculously regained life, leaving medical staff stunned. Koothuparamba Pachapoika native Pavithran came back to life while being transferred to the mortuary at Kannur AKG Hospital. It was Jayan, a supervisor, and Anoop, an electrician on duty, who noticed signs of life and acted as his saviours.

Pavithran had been on a ventilator at a hospital in Mangaluru, where doctors declared that he would not survive more than ten minutes and sent him home. During the ambulance journey back to his hometown, he showed no signs of life. As it was nighttime, the family decided to keep the body at the mortuary of AKG Hospital in Kannur. Around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night, while Jayan and Anoop were transferring the body from the ambulance to a stretcher, they noticed slight movement in his body. They informed the family and immediately shifted him to the emergency department. Pavithran is now undergoing treatment in the gastro ICU. Pavithran had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru for respiratory and kidney-related ailments.

Meanwhile, the authorities of AKG Hospital explained that the mortuary facility was provided only because the local representatives confirmed the death. Relatives had gathered in front of the mortuary upon hearing the news of his death, and the news had already been shared with newspapers and published.
