Patient dies after jumping from Medical College building

KOZHIKODE: A patient undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College died by jumping out of the hospital building’s window. The deceased has been identified as Askar (42), a resident of Chakkiyathu Mukku in Thalassery. The incident occurred early yesterday morning at around 1:15 a.m. Askar, who was staying in the 9th ward, jumped out through the window. Although he was immediately rushed to the emergency department, his life could not be saved.

Askar had been undergoing treatment for jaundice since the 12th of this month. He is survived by his mother, Naseema V, wife, Safreena, and children, Ashfaq, Hira Milana, and Nadiya. His father, Hamza, is deceased. Medical College Police conducted the inquest. After the post-mortem, the body was buried at the Saidar Mosque Cemetery in Thalassery. Police said that Askar might have committed suicide due to mental distress.
