Woman seriously injured after KSRTC bus drags her on road in Vaikom

KOCHI: In a terrifying incident, a woman trapped under a KSRTC bus was dragged for more than 30 meters in Vaikom on Saturday. Jeeba, a native of Vaikom, suffered a serious leg injury and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Jeeba got trapped inside the bus but the driver failed to notice this and moved the vehicle dragging her along. The locals on the road screamed and alerted the driver about the incident, which brought back his senses. The police have registered a case against the KSRTC bus driver and conductor in the incident.

In another incident, an SI on duty was injured when a KSRTC bus hit him while crossing the road in Elavunkal. Pathanamthitta Crime Branch SI Najeeb (52) suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital. The accident took place in front of Elavunkal Forest Check Post at 5 am on Friday. It was a fast passenger bus on special duty from Kasaragod that hit the police officer.

The accident happened when the bus was coming with passengers from Chengannur to Pamba with passengers.
