SABARIMALA: Valiya Guruthi pooja will be held at Sabarimala today to mark the end of the Makaravilakku festival. Valiya Guruthi pooja will be held in the presence of Pandalam Royal representative Thriketta Nal Raja Raja Varma in front of Malikappuram Mani Mandapam after closing the nada at 11 pm. Only the Royal representative will have darshan at Sannidhanam tomorrow. Ganapathi homam will be performed in the east mandapam after opening the nada at 5 in the morning. Then the Royal representative will reach Sopanam and have Ayyappa darshan. After he leaves, Melshanti Arun Kumar Namboothiri will put Ayyappan in a state of Yoga nidra by putting a rudraksha mala around his neck and a yoga stick in his hand. After singing Harivarasanam and putting out the lamps in Srilakam, Melashanti will walk backwards, exit and close the shrine nada. Then he will go down the Pathinettam Padi with the keys and panakizhi and hand them over to the Royal representative who is waiting in the courtyard below. After receiving these, the Royal representative will return them to Melashanti and instruct him to perform the next year's pujas. Then the Royal representative will start the journey back to the Pandalam along with Thiruvabharanam.
The darshan adoring Thiruvabharanam and the last Kalabhabhishekam of the pilgrimage took place yesterday. At night, a procession from Malikappuram Mani Mandapam to Saramkuthi was carried out with the accompaniment of music and theevetti. Nayattu Vili was held in Saramkuthi under the leadership of Vettakuruppans. More than one lakh pilgrims visited yesterday.
