KANNUR: K Sudhakaran MP has stated that he does not intend to hold on to the KPCC president position. He remarked that it is neither a luxury nor an ornamental role for him and that the central leadership can make a reasonable decision. He added that anyone could be appointed president and that he would cooperate with that person. Speaking to the media, he clarified that there are no discussions about the leadership change at present and that he has no objections to such discussions if they occur.
"The KPCC president's position is not a big dream for me, nor is the chief minister's position. My politics is rooted in the Congress ideology that opposes the CPM. I've been fighting against the CPIM since the age of six or seven, and that fight will continue. I won't vanish into thin air even if I am not the KPCC president. I have the support of the people. I will be there to lead the party in the next assembly elections. I'm not interested in contesting. A change in the KPCC president does not necessarily mean a change in the Leader of the Opposition," Sudhakaran said.
Sudhakaran expressed displeasure over reports regarding disagreements during the joint press conference. He questioned whether it was appropriate to hold a press conference when someone was injured and in the hospital. He also commented on Deepa Dasmunsi’s meetings with leaders individually, stating that it was not due to disunity among the leaders but because she did not trust them collectively. He added that Deepa Dasmunsi does not prefer a united discussion.
Responding to the questions on the suicides of Wayanad DCC treasurer NM Vijayan and his son, Sudhakaran said he is willing to abide by the police's instructions if it is proven that he had any role in the incident. He expressed his condolences to Vijayan’s family and stated that he would visit them. Sudhakaran also remarked that there were lapses on the part of the Congress leadership in Wayanad regarding this issue.
