PALAKKAD: The twin murder in Nenmara on Monday left many pondering in concern over the alarming rise of crime rate in Kerala. The Nenmara murder victim Sudhakaran's daughter Akhila along with locals raised allegations that their former complaints about accused Chenthamara were taken lightly by police.
According to locals, Chenthamara loathed his neighbours as he blamed them for his wife moving away. Citing the same reason, the accused hacked Sudhakaran’s wife Ajitha to death in 2019. The locals in the area too feared attack from the accused and were constantly in fear. Chenthamara was released on bail two months ago in the case of Ajitha's murder.
“After Chenthamara was released on bail, a complaint was lodged with the police on December 29, demanding security. But the police did not pay attention. We seldom visited the house as we feared attack from him.’ Said Akhila.
Sudhakaran was working as a driver in Tamil Nadu. He came to the house this morning to enquire about the welfare pension distribution.
“He is a certified psycho. Even if we look into his house or walk past him wearing a new dress, Chenthamara would attack. Before killing Sudhakaran and his mother, he also threatened another woman resident of the area with a machete,
A few years ago, Chenthamara's wife and children moved away from him. Chenthamara blamed his neighbours for his predicament. We recently filed a complaint with the police, but they were idle. They said nothing could be done with a person who was just released on parole.” Said locals.
