THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Ministerial residence in the capital once again witnessed a romantic success. The wedding of P Govind Sivan, son of Education Minister V Sivankutty and former PSC member R Parvathy Devi, took place yesterday. The bride is Aleena George, daughter of Kalapurakkal George and Reji of Idukki. The marriage was registered by District Registrar PP Nainan at the minister's official residence, Rose House. The two met each other when they were studying in Delhi.
68 years ago, a wedding took place at the Ministerial residence in Vazhuthacaud, Xanadu. The wedding was without any traditional rituals. The bride and groom adorned each other with blood-red garlands. Both were ministers. Gouriamma lived in Xanadu. TV Thomas lived in the Ministerial Palace next door. The then Chief Minister EMS Namboodiripad was the one who gave the thali for the wedding.
Minister GR Anil, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, CPM District Secretary V Joy MLA and some close relatives and friends attended the wedding ceremony of Govind Sivan yesterday.
A large crowd, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, ministers and social workers, attended the reception ceremony held at the Girideepam Convention Center in Nalanchira in the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed tea and blessed the bride and groom.
KR Gouriamma, who was the Revenue Minister in the EMS ministry in 1957, and TV Thomas, who was the Minister of Industries and Employment, got married after a long years of romance. The wedding was held on May 30, 1957.
