COIMBATORE: A youth has been arrested for pushing a pregnant woman out of a moving train for resisting rape attempt. The arrested is 27-year-old Hemaraj. The incident happened last night at Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore. The youth tried to rape Revathi (35), when she was travelling alone from Tirupur to Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor on the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express train.

Revathi boarded the train with an unreserved ticket Thursday morning around 6.40 am and sat in the ladies’ coach. There were seven other women in the coach at that time. When the train reached Jolarpettai railway station, all the women in the coach except Revathi got down. When the train started moving, Hemaraj boarded the train.

He then tried to rape the woman. When she resisted by kicking him, he pushed her out of the train. The woman suffered injuries on her hands, legs and head. The officials rushed her to the Vellore Government Hospital for treatment.

The incident happened when Revathi was going to her mother's house. The police have registered a case and arrested him.
