THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sunitha, a co-prisoner alleged that Sherin, the accused in the Karnavar murder case, had close ties with top officials. Sherin had a very close relationship with jail DIG Pradeep. Pradeep visited her once a week. Sunitha alleged that Sherin, who used to go out after all the cells are locked, returns after two hours. Sunitha also told media that Sherin had said that she has close relationship with Minister Ganesh Kumar.

When all the other accused stand in queue for food, the staff would bring Sherin the food she demands. While other inmates were given mats to sleep, Sherin was given a bed sheet and pillow brought from home. She wore linen churidar and she nearly had six to seven pairs. Sunitha alleged that Sherin used cosmetics worth around Rs 10,000 including lipstick.

The opposition had alleged that Sherin had close ties with two ministers of the cabinet. The decision to release Sherin was made quickly. The recommendation reached the cabinet through the home department in a month. Only Sherin's sentence was commuted, leaving behind many other deserved people.
